Description

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée St. Vivant 2013 is a benchmark Grand Cru Burgundy from one of the most revered names in wine. Crafted from Pinot Noir in the heart of Vosne-Romanée, it combines remarkable elegance with depth and intensity, offering a classic expression of one of Burgundy’s most admired vineyards.

Tasting Notes
The wine is expected to show a luminous ruby color with the kind of clarity and finesse that define great Pinot Noir. On the nose, it moves from delicate floral notes and red berry perfume to subtle spice, earth, and a refined, mineral edge. The palate is layered and poised, with silky texture, bright precision, and impressive length. It balances perfume and structure beautifully, showing the tension, transparency, and quiet power that make Romanée St. Vivant so distinctive. While already captivating in youth, it has the concentration and balance to evolve gracefully for many years.

Production
Romanée St. Vivant comes from a legendary Grand Cru site in Vosne-Romanée, where limestone-rich soils and a favorable Burgundian climate help Pinot Noir develop both delicacy and complexity. The vineyard is farmed with extreme care, using hand harvesting and strict sorting to select only the healthiest fruit. In the cellar, the approach is traditional and minimal-intervention. Fermentation takes place in large oak vats, followed by aging in new French oak barrels for around 16 to 18 months. The philosophy is to let the terroir speak clearly, with as little manipulation as possible.

Food & Serving
This wine is best served with refined dishes that echo its elegance, such as duck breast, roasted quail, veal, mushroom risotto, or game birds with subtle sauces. It also pairs beautifully with truffle-based dishes and aged soft cheeses. Serve at about 16–18°C. Decanting is not essential for a youthful bottle, but a gentle decant of 30 to 60 minutes can help the aromas unfold.

Producer
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is widely regarded as one of the greatest producers in the world and the undisputed icon of Burgundy. Based in Vosne-Romanée, the estate has a long history rooted in the vineyards of Saint-Vivant and now holds an extraordinary collection of Grand Cru parcels. Under Aubert de Villaine’s leadership, the domaine has become synonymous with precision, restraint, and purity. Organic farming, meticulous vineyard work, and a deeply traditional cellar philosophy have helped secure its legendary status and make its wines among the most sought-after in the world.
