Tasting Notes
La Tâche 2014 shows remarkable refinement in the glass, with an elegant, lucid character that can evoke Romanée-Conti in its purity. The bouquet is finely etched and mineral-driven, opening toward red and darker berry notes, along with a subtle floral lift and a sense of restrained spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and beautifully symmetrical, with a velvet-like texture and a faint edge that gives the finish energy and drive. The aftertaste is exceptionally long and persistent, suggesting superb ageing potential; while already captivating, this is a wine that will reward many years in cellar.

Production
La Tâche comes from one of Burgundy’s greatest Grand Cru vineyards, planted on prized limestone and clay soils in Vosne-Romanée, where the site’s natural depth and precision are key to its character. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before vinification, with the domaine following a meticulous, low-intervention approach designed to preserve the character of the fruit and the expression of the vineyard. Fermentation is carried out using traditional methods, with the wine then matured in new oak barrels for around 16 to 18 months. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is known for extremely low yields, rigorous selection, and a philosophy of doing as little as possible in the cellar, allowing the Grand Cru terroir to shine through with clarity and balance.

Food & Serving
This is a wine best suited to refined dishes such as roast pigeon, duck breast, quail, venison, or truffle-inflected mushroom dishes. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses and classic Burgundy fare. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for one to two hours, especially if opened young, to allow the wine to fully unfold.
