Domaine Claudie Jobard Rully Montagne La Folie Blanc 2023 is a refined Burgundy Chardonnay from a single vineyard in Rully, one of the most expressive corners of the Côte Chalonnaise. Crafted with careful hand harvesting and a thoughtful use of oak, it captures the balance of freshness, minerality, and subtle richness that has made Rully white wines so admired.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a bright, clear pale gold colour. The nose is delicately layered with citrus, white flowers, and a gentle toasted oak nuance, adding a touch of warmth without overwhelming the fruit. The palate is elegant and well-balanced, driven by fresh acidity and a distinctive mineral line. Ripe citrus and floral notes carry through to a clean, persistent finish, while the lees ageing gives the wine added texture and a sense of depth. It should drink beautifully now and can develop further complexity over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from Montagne La Folie, a single vineyard in the commune of Rully in Bourgogne’s Côte Chalonnaise. Harvesting is done by hand, and the fruit is pressed gently before fermentation in oak barrels, including a portion of new oak. The wine then matures on its lees for 10 to 12 months and is bottled unfiltered or only lightly filtered to preserve the purity and character of the site.

Food & Serving
This Chardonnay pairs especially well with fish, shellfish, and poultry, where its freshness and subtle oak complement delicate flavours. It also works very nicely with aged cheeses. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C, and decanting is generally not necessary unless you wish to open up the wine a little more before serving.
