Description

Domaine Claudie Jobard’s 2023 Pommard Les Vaumuriens pairs Pinot Noir’s finesse with the darker fruit and firm structure for which Pommard is known. Made in a tiny run of just 600 bottles, it comes from old vines on elevated slopes above Rugiens, on the Volnay side of the appellation.

Tasting Notes
Deeply coloured, with aromas and flavours of dark cherry and warm spice. The palate is generous and fruit-led, balanced by soft, approachable tannins and the distinctive structure of Pommard. Freshness keeps the wine lively, while its depth and tannins give it potential to develop in bottle; it can also be enjoyed young.

Production
Les Vaumuriens is a high-elevation site above Rugiens, where Domaine Claudie Jobard blends fruit from four organically farmed parcels. The vines average around 70 years of age, and the grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted in the vineyard. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, the wine is destemmed, given a short cold maceration before fermentation, then matured in French oak barrels.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 15–16°C with roast duck, grilled or roast pork, mushroom dishes, or gently aged cheeses. A short decant of 20–30 minutes can help open the wine, particularly when serving it young.
