Domaine Claudie Jobard’s 2023 Beaune 1er Cru Les Epenottes is an expressive Burgundy Pinot Noir, combining ripe fruit and elegant finesse with more structure and depth than a lighter-bodied style. The vineyard lies in southern Beaune, close to Pommard and below the premier cru Clos des Mouches.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows generous dark fruit alongside cherry and raspberry, with fresh, finely balanced aromas. On the palate, ripe fruit meets lively freshness and silky, approachable tannins, leading to a long, energetic finish. Enjoyable while young with a little air, it also has the structure to develop in bottle. With time, the dark-fruit character is expected to gain more spice and complexity.

Production
Les Epenottes has clay-rich soils, where the domaine’s organically farmed vines are around 60 to more than 70 years old. The Pinot Noir grapes are hand-harvested and rigorously selected, then the wine is matured in French oak barrels, 30–50% of which are new. It is bottled without fining or filtration.

Food & Serving
Serve slightly cool, around 15–16°C, with roast poultry, veal or lamb. A brief decant or time to breathe in the glass can help open the wine, particularly when serving it young.
