Description

Domaine Chanzy’s Mercurey Clos Les Bussières Blanc 2022 is a precise, expressive Chardonnay from an estate-owned monopole vineyard in Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise. Its limestone- and marl-rich soils lend the wine a distinctive mineral character, balanced by ripe fruit and the subtle influence of oak.

Tasting Notes
Golden in the glass with faint green reflections, it opens with white flowers, ripe citrus and stone fruit, alongside delicate mineral notes and a gentle hint of toast. The palate is generous yet focused, combining concentrated fruit with fresh acidity and chalky minerality, leading to a long, elegant finish. Enjoy it now for its freshness and fruit, or cellar it for a few years to allow further complexity to develop.

Production
The Chardonnay comes from southeast-facing parcels in Clos Les Bussières, where relatively deep, limestone- and marl-rich soils contribute to the wine’s balance of ripe fruit and freshness. It is gently pressed and fermented at controlled temperatures, then aged for around ten months in oak barrels before further maturation in stainless steel. Harvesting methods are not specified.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled, around 10–12°C, with grilled fish, shellfish, lobster or fish dishes with a creamy sauce. It also pairs well with mature firm cheeses, or can be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif. A short time in the glass should be sufficient; decanting is not essential.
