Description

Domaine Bliemerose Alsace Pinot Gris Barrique 2007 is a rich, barrel-aged white wine from one of France’s most characterful white wine regions. With its generous texture, mature complexity and distinctly Alsatian spice, it offers a wonderfully expressive example of Pinot Gris with real gastronomic depth.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep golden colour that immediately signals maturity and concentration. The nose is open and layered, with notes of poached pear, apricot, hay and honey, lifted by subtle smoky and spicy nuances. The palate is full-bodied and creamy, with ripe fruit at the core. Flavours of honeydew melon, apricot and yellow apple are woven together with white pepper, cardamom and dried ginger, creating a wine that feels both generous and finely structured. With its seasoned profile and firm, warming character, it is drinking beautifully now, though its evolved complexity makes it especially appealing for lovers of mature white wines.

Production
This Pinot Gris comes from Alsace, a region renowned for producing expressive, terroir-driven white wines with excellent concentration and aromatic precision. The "Barrique" designation points to oak maturation, which adds texture, spice and a subtle toasted dimension to the wine’s naturally ripe fruit profile. The 2007 vintage has had ample time to develop its golden colour and complex secondary aromas, resulting in a wine that feels fully evolved and beautifully integrated.

Food & Serving
This is a superb partner for rich, flavour-packed dishes such as onion soup, pork with apples, or poultry in a creamy sauce topped with fresh truffle. It is best served slightly chilled, around 10–12°C, to allow its aromatic depth and creamy structure to show at their best. Decanting is not essential, but a short aeration can help the wine open up further if it is being enjoyed from a recently opened bottle.

Producer
Domaine Bliemerose is a producer rooted in Alsace, a region with a long tradition of crafting distinctive, food-friendly whites from classic varieties such as Pinot Gris. While detailed background information on the domaine is limited, the wine reflects the style for which the region is celebrated: generous fruit, spice, and a strong sense of place. Wines like this highlight the estate’s focus on producing characterful bottlings with both maturity and culinary appeal.
