Description

Dom Pérignon 1996 is one of Champagne’s most admired vintage releases, celebrated for its striking balance of power and finesse. Made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in an exceptional year for the region, it reflects both the prestige of the house and the rarity of this highly sought-after vintage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a refined golden hue with a persistent, fine mousse. The nose is layered and expressive, with mature citrus, dried apricot, toasted brioche, and nutty notes, all underscored by a mineral freshness. On the palate, it is broad, precise, and beautifully structured, combining ripe fruit depth with vibrant acidity and a firm mineral backbone. The texture is silky and elegant, and the finish is long and complex. With continued cellaring, it can evolve further and gain even more depth and nuance.

Production
The 1996 vintage in Champagne was marked by a rare combination of generous ripeness and high acidity, particularly well suited to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Dom Pérignon is crafted only from carefully selected grapes, with long aging on lees contributing to its complexity, creamy texture, and signature depth.

Food & Serving
Serve at 10–12°C to fully appreciate its aromatic detail and layered structure. It pairs especially well with lobster, truffles, aged cheeses, and refined seafood dishes. Decanting is generally not recommended for Champagne, but allowing it a few minutes in the glass can help the wine open beautifully.

Producer
Dom Pérignon is the prestige cuvée of Champagne Moët & Chandon, one of the most renowned houses in Champagne. Named after the legendary Benedictine monk often associated with early Champagne development, the wine has become a benchmark for luxury vintage Champagne and is highly regarded by collectors and connoisseurs worldwide.
