Description

Champagne de Venoge Extra Brut Millésime 1987 is a rare vintage Champagne from one of the region’s most respected houses, combining Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in a precise Extra Brut style. With minimal dosage and extended ageing, it offers remarkable purity, depth and a distinctly classic Champagne character.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a straw-gold colour with a fine, persistent mousse that reflects its long bottle maturation. The nose is layered and evolved, with aromas of ripe yellow fruit, toasted almonds, dried fruit and a subtle brioche note. On the palate, it is dry, crisp and focused, with vibrant acidity and a pronounced mineral streak that keeps the wine taut and energetic. The finish is elegant and persistent, and while it is beautifully expressive now, its structure suggests it can continue to hold well for further short-term ageing.

Production
Made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir harvested in the 1987 vintage, this cuvée was crafted in the Champagne region with an emphasis on precision and longevity. The Extra Brut dosage highlights the wine’s natural intensity and complexity, while the long cellar ageing has allowed it to develop its refined texture and layered aromatic profile.

Food & Serving
This Champagne is an excellent match for oysters, shellfish and delicate fish dishes, where its dryness and mineral edge can shine. Serve well chilled, ideally around 8-10°C, and consider brief decanting only if needed to open up its mature aromas.

Champagne de Venoge is a historic Champagne house known for its elegant, traditional style and long-standing reputation in the region.
