Description

De Bonhoste Crémant de Bordeaux Rosé AOC is a vibrant sparkling rosé that showcases the elegance of Bordeaux through a festive, fruit-driven style. Crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, this non-vintage Crémant delivers both freshness and structure, making it as suitable for celebrations as it is for casual aperitifs. As one of Bordeaux’s traditional sparkling specialties, it offers a refined alternative to more ubiquitous sparkling wines while staying true to its regional roots.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, De Bonhoste Crémant de Bordeaux Rosé shows a luminous, pale salmon to light pink hue, crowned with a fine, persistent bead of bubbles. The nose is expressive and charming, with aromas of wild strawberries, redcurrants, and raspberries, layered with hints of rose petals, white flowers, and a gentle touch of brioche or biscuit from its time on lees. On the palate, this rosé Crémant is crisp and lively, yet supported by the natural body and gentle tannic backbone of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Expect fresh red berry flavors—think strawberry, cranberry, and a touch of cherry—balanced by citrusy lift and a clean, dry finish. The mousse is fine and creamy, providing a smooth texture without overwhelming the fruit. This non-vintage cuvée is designed for immediate pleasure rather than long-term cellaring; while it can rest for a year or two, it’s best enjoyed in its youth for maximum brightness and aromatics.

Production
Château de Bonhoste’s Crémant de Bordeaux Rosé is born from vineyards in the rolling hills north of Bordeaux, where clay-limestone soils and a temperate Atlantic climate help Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot develop ripe fruit character while preserving fresh acidity—crucial for quality sparkling wine. Grapes are typically harvested by hand at slightly lower potential alcohol to retain tension and aromatic delicacy. After gentle pressing, the base wines are vinified at cool temperatures in stainless steel to preserve purity of fruit, followed by the traditional method (méthode traditionnelle) second fermentation in bottle. The wine rests on its lees for several months to build texture and fine bubbles before riddling, disgorgement, and a carefully judged dosage to keep the style dry, vibrant, and food-friendly.

Food & Serving
This Crémant de Bordeaux Rosé is a natural choice as an aperitif, pairing beautifully with charcuterie, smoked salmon, shrimp cocktail, sushi, and light canapés. Its bright acidity and red-berry profile also complement summer salads, grilled prawns, roast chicken, soft cheeses like brie or camembert, and fruit-based desserts such as strawberry tart or raspberry sorbet. Serve well-chilled at around 6–8°C (43–46°F) to highlight its freshness and fine bubbles. Decanting is not necessary; simply open the bottle a few minutes before serving and pour into white wine or tulip-shaped sparkling glasses to best appreciate its aromatics.
