Description
Dauteville & Cie Blanquette de Limoux Méthode Traditionnelle Brut is a classic sparkling wine from one of France’s most historic sparkling wine regions. Made from Mauzac with Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, it offers a fresh, lively style that reflects the character of Limoux and its long tradition of méthode traditionnelle winemaking.
Tasting Notes
Pale straw in the glass with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is fresh and inviting, with notes of green apple, citrus zest, white flowers, and a gentle touch of orchard fruit and brioche from its traditional sparkling winemaking.
On the palate, it is bright and crisp, showing good balance between freshness and softness. The Mauzac grape brings its signature apple-driven character, while Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc add lift, elegance, and subtle structure. It finishes clean and refreshing, making it an easy-drinking sparkling wine with good immediate appeal.
Production
Blanquette de Limoux is produced in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, where the vineyards benefit from a mix of Atlantic and Mediterranean influences, plus the cooler conditions of the Limoux area. The grapes are harvested for freshness and fermented using the traditional method, with a secondary fermentation in bottle to create its fine bubbles and classic texture. Aging on the lees adds depth, complexity, and a hint of creamy richness to the final wine.
Food & Serving
Ideal as an aperitif, this sparkling wine also pairs well with seafood, fried appetizers, mild cheeses, sushi, and light poultry dishes. Serve well chilled at around 6–8°C, and decanting is not recommended—simply open and enjoy fresh to preserve its lively mousse and crisp character.
