D'Addario Negroamaro Rosè Casale Ciliani 2023 captures the sun‑drenched charm of Apulia in a fresh, finely balanced rosé. Crafted from 100% Negroamaro, this wine highlights the grape’s natural depth while keeping the style light, vibrant, and unmistakably Mediterranean. It’s a modern interpretation of a classic Puglian variety, designed for relaxed occasions yet serious enough to impress at the table.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the Casale Ciliani Rosè shows a luminous, pale coral-pink hue with delicate copper reflections. The nose is immediately inviting, with notes of wild strawberries, pomegranate, and red currants layered over hints of blood orange zest, rose petals, and a subtle mineral edge.
On the palate, it is dry, medium-bodied and wonderfully crisp, with juicy red berry fruit at the core. Flavours of raspberry, watermelon, and cherry are lifted by a saline freshness and a touch of Mediterranean herbs, giving the wine both charm and character. The finish is clean and mouth-watering, with a gentle bitterness typical of Negroamaro that adds structure and complexity. Best enjoyed within 2–3 years of the vintage to capture its pure fruit and vibrant acidity.
Production
The D'Addario Negroamaro Rosè Casale Ciliani 2023 is sourced from vineyards in Apulia, where the Negroamaro vines enjoy abundant sunshine, sea breezes from the Adriatic, and well-drained calcareous-clay soils that naturally limit yields and intensify flavour. Grapes are typically harvested in the cooler hours to preserve aromatic freshness, with careful selection to ensure optimal ripeness and acidity. After a short, controlled maceration on the skins to achieve its delicate colour and subtle tannic grip, the must is gently pressed and fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel. The wine then rests on fine lees for a short period to enhance texture and aromatic complexity, while retaining a crisp, clean profile with no heavy oak influence.
Food & Serving
This vibrant Puglian rosé is a versatile food partner, pairing beautifully with antipasti, fresh salads, grilled vegetables, seafood pasta, and light fish dishes. It also shines alongside charcuterie, soft and semi-hard cheeses, and Mediterranean classics like tomato-based bruschetta or grilled prawns with herbs and lemon. Serve well-chilled, around 8–10°C, to accentuate its freshness and aromatics. Decanting is not necessary; simply open and pour, allowing a few minutes in the glass for the wine’s fruit and floral notes to fully unfold.
