Description
Crémant du Jura Blanc Brut Nature from Pignier is a refined sparkling wine from one of France’s most distinctive regions, offering a dry, mineral-driven style with real character. Produced in the Jura, it reflects the area’s cool climate and traditional sparkling winemaking, making it an appealing choice for those who enjoy freshness, precision, and authenticity.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Crémant typically shows a pale straw color with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is likely to be fresh and expressive, with notes of citrus, green apple, white flowers, and a subtle yeasty or brioche nuance from bottle aging.
On the palate, it should feel brisk and clean, with lively acidity and a dry Brut Nature profile that keeps the focus on fruit, minerality, and texture rather than sweetness. The finish is usually crisp and refreshing, with enough structure to make it enjoyable on its own or at the table. It is best enjoyed young for maximum freshness, though a good Brut Nature Crémant can also gain a touch more complexity with a short period of cellar aging.
Production
The Jura’s cool continental climate and varied marl and limestone soils are well suited to sparkling wine production, helping preserve acidity and build a mineral backbone. Pignier is known for working in a way that respects the character of the vineyard, and Crémant du Jura is traditionally made from carefully harvested grapes selected for freshness and balance.
The wine is vinified using the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle to create its fine mousse. As a Brut Nature, it is finished with little to no dosage, allowing the purity of the fruit and terroir to come through clearly.
Food & Serving
This style of Crémant is excellent as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with oysters, shellfish, sushi, smoked salmon, goat cheese, and light poultry dishes. Serve well chilled, ideally around 6–8°C, and there is usually no need to decant a sparkling wine of this style. If desired, open it a few minutes before serving to let the aromas settle slightly.
