Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby-purple colour with impressive density. The nose is likely to open with cassis, black cherry, graphite, cedar, and hints of violets and exotic spice, reflecting the Cabernet Sauvignon-led style of the estate. On the palate, expect a firm, layered wine with ripe dark fruit, mineral tension, and the savoury backbone that Saint-Estèphe is known for. Merlot adds roundness and flesh, balancing the wine’s structure. This is a vintage with excellent ageing potential; it will reward patience and continue to develop complexity over many years.

Cos d’Estournel sits on gravelly, well-drained soils in Saint-Estèphe, where the proximity to the Gironde helps moderate temperatures and support steady ripening. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot is harvested with careful parcel selection, then vinified to preserve precision, concentration, and the character of each plot before ageing in oak to build structure and finesse.

This wine pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, roast lamb, duck breast, mushroom dishes, or slow-braised beef. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromas and texture to open fully.
