Why shop with us?
Corte Giara Valpolicella Ripasso La Groletta 2024 offers a generous yet lively expression of Valpolicella, made from Corvina and Rondinella and shaped by the traditional Ripasso method. Rooted in the Allegrini family’s long-standing winemaking experience in Fumane, it brings classic regional character into an approachable, modern style.
Tasting Notes
The bouquet opens with clear aromas of cherries and ripe red fruit, complemented by sweet spices and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is full and rounded, with supple tannins balanced by freshness and an easy-drinking, lively finish.
Its time in large oak casks lends the wine structure without overshadowing its fruit. The supplied information does not specify its aging potential.
Production
The grapes come from hillsides in Fumane, in the Verona area, at elevations of 180–250 metres, on southeast-facing vineyards with predominantly clay and limestone soils. The vines are trained using the traditional pergola system, and the grapes are harvested by hand in September. After destemming and gentle pressing, the must ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel; in February, the wine undergoes a slow second fermentation on dried Amarone grape skins. It then spends time in stainless steel and eleven months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by a further period of bottle aging.
Food & Serving
Enjoy with flavourful stews, red meats or medium-aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C to bring out its fruit and spice, and consider opening the bottle 30 minutes before serving. A brief decant can help the wine open up.
Producer
Corte Giara draws on the Allegrini family’s historic winemaking experience in Fumane, in the heart of Valpolicella. La Groletta showcases the region’s Ripasso tradition, in which a second fermentation on Amarone grape skins adds richness and aromatic depth. The producer information provided highlights the family’s regional heritage and a style that balances tradition with accessibility.
