Description

Contadi Castaldi Franciacorta Brut Race Ducati Corse is a dynamic Italian sparkling wine that brings together the precision of winemaking and the thrill of motorsport. Crafted in partnership with Ducati Corse, it celebrates the spirit of innovation, speed, and Italian excellence in every fine bead of bubbles. This Franciacorta offers the finesse of traditional-method sparkling wine with a bold, contemporary edge that mirrors Ducati’s racing heritage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Franciacorta shows a bright straw-yellow hue with delicate, persistent bubbles forming a fine, creamy mousse. The nose opens with fresh notes of green apple, pear, and citrus zest, layered with hints of white flowers, brioche, and a subtle mineral touch. On the palate, it is crisp and vibrant, balancing lively acidity with a supple, rounded texture. Flavors of lemon curd, crunchy orchard fruit, and a trace of stone fruit are supported by gentle toasty nuances from time spent on the lees. The finish is clean, refreshing, and distinctly dry, leaving a lingering sense of citrus and chalky minerality. Best enjoyed within a few years of release for its energy and freshness, though it can develop additional complexity over 3–5 years of careful cellaring.

Production
Sourced from carefully selected vineyards in Lombardy’s Franciacorta region, the grapes benefit from a cool climate, well-drained morainic soils, and significant day–night temperature swings that help preserve acidity and aromatic purity. Chardonnay brings elegance and fragrance, Pinot Nero adds structure and depth, while Pinot Bianco contributes finesse and a subtle floral lift. Grapes are generally harvested by hand to ensure optimal selection and gentle handling in the cellar. After a soft pressing, the base wines ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel, and in some cases partially in oak, before being blended to achieve the house style. The wine then undergoes its second fermentation in the bottle following the traditional method, maturing on the lees for an extended period to build complexity, texture, and fine, persistent bubbles before disgorgement and dosage.

Food & Serving
This Franciacorta Brut is a versatile partner at the table, ideal as an aperitif but also excellent throughout a meal. Pair it with fresh seafood such as oysters, shrimp, ceviche, or sushi, as well as delicate fish dishes, risotto with shellfish, and light poultry preparations. It also complements charcuterie, soft cheeses, and crisp vegetable tempura. Serve well-chilled at around 6–8°C (43–46°F). Decanting is not necessary; simply open the bottle a few minutes before serving to allow the aromas to unfurl in the glass.

Producer
Contadi Castaldi is one of the key names in Franciacorta, born from a vision to reinterpret this prestigious sparkling wine region with a modern, exploratory spirit. The winery takes its name from the ancient ‘contadi’ (counties) and ‘castaldi’ (stewards) who once oversaw these lands, a nod to its roots in Lombardy’s agricultural and cultural history. Today, Contadi Castaldi is recognized for its innovative approach, meticulous vineyard work, and a style that emphasizes freshness, precision, and drinkability. Collaborations like the Ducati Corse edition underline the estate’s commitment to contemporary Italian culture, bringing together two icons of craftsmanship—fine wine and racing engineering—from the heart of Italy.
