Connetable Talbot is the second wine of Château Talbot, one of Saint-Julien’s most admired estates, offering a refined introduction to the château’s classic Left Bank style. The 2023 vintage captures the elegance and structure associated with Bordeaux, with a more approachable profile than the grand vin while still carrying the prestige of a historic name.

Tasting Notes
Expect a deep ruby colour with youthful brightness in the glass. The nose leans toward blackcurrant, plum, cedar, graphite, and a touch of violet, with subtle oak spice adding polish and lift. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with ripe dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity, and the savory edge that gives Saint-Julien its appeal. The finish is balanced and persistent, suggesting good drinking in the medium term, while also having the structure to develop further over the next few years.

Made in Saint-Julien, within Bordeaux’s Left Bank, this wine reflects the gravelly soils and maritime climate that favor Cabernet-driven wines with freshness and precision. As a second wine, it is typically crafted from younger vines and lots selected for earlier approachability, with vinification aimed at preserving fruit purity, balance, and the estate’s signature elegance.

Food & Serving
A great match for roast lamb, grilled entrecôte, duck breast, mushroom dishes, and hard cheeses such as Comté or aged Gouda. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for around 30 minutes if drinking young to help the wine open up.
