Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep garnet-purple core and immediately opens with an expressive bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberry, smoked meat, dark chocolate, dried Provençal herbs, lavender, cigar box, and subtle baking spice. It is full-bodied and richly textured on the palate, yet remarkably poised, with ripe tannins, integrated acidity, and a long, layered finish. Despite its intensity, the 2015 IX Estate is not a wine that rushes to show everything at once. It has a restrained, earthy elegance beneath its power, and while it is already impressive, it is built for the long haul. With proper cellaring, it should continue to evolve beautifully for 25–30 years or more.

Production
The 2015 IX Estate Red comes from Colgin’s estate vineyard high in the hills of Pritchard Hill, Napa Valley, where elevation, ample sunshine, and carefully managed vineyard sites help produce concentrated, aromatic fruit. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant, supported by Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, and was made using classic vinification methods before aging for around two years in 100% new French oak barrels. The result is a wine of exceptional structure, purity, and aromatic complexity.

Food & Serving
This is an ideal match for premium cuts of beef, lamb, venison, truffle dishes, and richly flavored mushroom-based cuisine. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses and slow-braised dishes. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for several hours if drinking young to allow the wine’s aromatics and structure to fully open.
