Col d’Orcia Rosso di Montalcino 2024 is an organic Sangiovese from the celebrated Montalcino appellation, offering a vivid expression of Tuscan fruit and place. Made at an estate with roots stretching back to the 17th century, it balances generous cherry character with supple tannins and measured oak influence.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby with violet highlights, it opens with aromas of cherry and black cherry, accented by hints of oak and spice. The palate is structured yet soft, with pleasantly ripe tannins, a persistent fruity finish and the freshness typical of Sangiovese. Enjoy it in its fruit-forward youth; a specific aging window has not been provided.

Production
The grapes come from Col d’Orcia’s vineyards on the Sant’Angelo hill in Montalcino, around 250 metres above sea level, where a dry Mediterranean climate and south-facing slopes meet calcareous, siliceous soils. The estate follows organic practices and prioritises traceability. Fermentation takes place on the skins for around 10–12 days in low, wide stainless-steel tanks under controlled temperatures for gentle extraction, followed by nine months in Slavonian oak casks and a further period of ageing.

Food & Serving
Serve with roasted or grilled meats, hearty Tuscan dishes, or mature cheeses. A serving temperature of around 16–18°C should bring out its fruit and structure; a brief decant can help the wine open up, though extended aeration is unlikely to be necessary.
