Description
Château Clinet’s 2011 Pomerol is a refined expression of one of Bordeaux’s most admired Right Bank estates, offering the depth and plush character that make Pomerol so sought after. Known for its Merlot-led style and remarkable balance, Clinet has long been associated with wines of richness, elegance, and impressive aging potential.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine typically shows a deep garnet color with youthful ruby reflections. The nose is layered and inviting, with ripe dark berries, plum, cedar, cocoa, and subtle earthy notes that gradually unfold in the glass.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a silky texture, polished tannins, and a harmonious core of black cherry, blackberry, and spice. The 2011 vintage is generally approachable but still structured enough to reward further cellaring, with the best bottles continuing to develop complexity over the next several years.
Production
Produced in Pomerol on Bordeaux’s gravelly and clay-rich Right Bank soils, Clinet benefits from terroir that naturally supports concentrated, expressive Merlot-based wines. The estate is known for careful vineyard work and precise harvesting, with grapes typically picked at optimal ripeness and vinified to preserve purity, texture, and freshness.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, game birds, and dishes with earthy mushrooms or truffle accents. Serve at around 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking now to allow the aromas and tannins to open fully.
Producer
Château Clinet is one of Pomerol’s most respected names, with a reputation built on consistency, finesse, and a distinctly luxurious style. Over the years, the estate has earned a place among the appellation’s standout producers, especially for wines that combine richness with impressive precision and longevity.
