Description

Clef De Sol Blanc from La Grange Tiphaine is a vivid Loire white that captures the fresh, mineral-driven character of Montlouis-sur-Loire. Crafted in one of the Loire Valley’s most respected pockets for Chenin Blanc, it stands out for its precision, lift, and quietly expressive style.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a pale, brilliant colour with a lively sheen. The nose is expected to be fresh and bright, with notes of citrus, white flowers, orchard fruit, and a subtle chalky or flinty edge that reflects its Loire origins. On the palate, it should feel crisp and focused, balancing ripe fruit with racy acidity and a mineral backbone. The finish is likely clean and persistent, giving the wine good potential to gain complexity over the next few years while remaining delicious in its youthful, energetic phase.

Production
Montlouis-sur-Loire sits on the Loire’s tuffeau limestone and clay-rich soils, which help shape the wine’s tension and mineral profile. Grapes are generally harvested by hand in this area, allowing for careful selection of healthy fruit, and vinification is typically aimed at preserving freshness and texture through gentle pressing and restrained cellar work.

Food & Serving
This wine works beautifully with seafood, shellfish, goat cheese, chicken in light cream sauces, and vegetable dishes with herbs or citrus. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and decanting is not usually necessary, though a short splash in the glass can help open up its aromatics.

Producer
La Grange Tiphaine is a highly regarded Loire producer known for thoughtful, terroir-focused wines that emphasize clarity and balance. Based in Montlouis-sur-Loire, the estate has earned a strong reputation for expressive whites that reflect both the region’s heritage and a modern commitment to precision and quality.

This is one of the first wines I've ever poured at the start of my Sommelier career. I was working at a Michelin seafood restaurant in Paris and I had to find a wine that I could truly recommend that could pair with the whole menu. Here it is, a pure expression of Chenin Blanc. An elegant wine, dry and fresh with expressions of floral and apple notes that you want from a Loire Valley Chenin.
