Description

Claude Dugat Gevrey-Chambertin 2010 is a refined expression of one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most respected domaines, combining precision, depth, and classic Burgundy character. Sourced from small parcels around the village, it reflects both the mineral-driven terroir of Gevrey and Claude Dugat’s uncompromising approach to low yields and meticulous selection.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a vivid ruby color with impressive clarity. The nose opens with red berries, cherry, forest floor, and subtle spice, gradually revealing savory herbal nuances and a gentle touch of oak. The palate is elegant yet structured, with focused fruit, fine tannins, and a fresh mineral line that gives the wine length and definition. It has the balance and concentration to age gracefully, and should continue to develop complexity over the coming years, gaining more earthy, floral, and truffle-like notes.

Production
The grapes come from small parcels around Gevrey-Chambertin, where limestone and marl soils help give Pinot Noir its depth, structure, and distinctive mineral edge. The fruit is hand-harvested and carefully sorted before traditional fermentation in open vats with native yeasts, followed by around 16 months of aging in French oak barrels, with only a small proportion of new oak to preserve purity and finesse.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast duck, game birds, mushroom dishes, braised veal, and classic Burgundy fare such as beef bourguignon. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 30–60 minutes if the wine is still showing some youthful firmness.

Producer
Domaine Claude Dugat is a highly regarded family-run producer in Gevrey-Chambertin, known for its intensely terroir-driven wines and extremely low yields. The domaine has earned a strong reputation in Burgundy for producing wines of precision, purity, and remarkable concentration, and is widely respected among collectors and Burgundy enthusiasts alike.
