Description

Château Tertre Roteboeuf 2000 is a remarkable Saint-Émilion red from one of Bordeaux’s most distinctive estates, admired for its richness, depth, and unmistakably seductive style. Widely celebrated by critics, this vintage stands out for its power, concentration, and impressive balance, making it a benchmark expression of Cabernet Franc from the Right Bank.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a dense ruby to purple hue that still feels remarkably youthful. The nose unfolds with layered aromas of kirsch liqueur, licorice, and dark fruit, carried by a ripe, almost glossy intensity that gives the wine exceptional aromatic presence. On the palate, it is full-bodied, velvety, and deeply textured, with sweet fruit, notable glycerin richness, and impressive depth. Despite its generosity, the wine retains enough structure to age gracefully, and it should continue evolving beautifully for many years — likely another two decades or more under proper cellaring.

Production
Sourced from the Saint-Émilion district of Bordeaux, the wine comes from a terroir known for producing expressive, concentrated Right Bank reds. The estate’s approach emphasizes low yields and careful harvesting to preserve the intensity and purity of the fruit, followed by vinification aimed at maximizing texture, ripeness, and aromatic complexity.

Food & Serving
This is a superb partner for richly flavored dishes such as roast lamb, duck, game, beef Wellington, or truffle-infused cuisine. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking now to allow the wine to open fully and reveal its full aromatic range.

Producer
Château Tertre Roteboeuf is a cult Saint-Émilion estate known for its small production, highly individual style, and excellent critical acclaim. Under the guidance of François and Emilie Mitjavile, it has earned a reputation as one of Bordeaux’s most distinctive producers, regularly receiving praise for wines of extraordinary texture, generosity, and longevity.
