Château Rocheyron 2019 is a polished and highly expressive Bordeaux from a small estate in Saint-Émilion, crafted by Peter Sisseck and Silvio Denz. With a thoughtful blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, it combines precision, freshness, and aromatic detail in a style that highlights elegance over power.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows deep, youthful color and an inviting aromatic intensity. The nose unfolds with ripe blackberries, cherries, blackcurrants, forest strawberries, limestone minerality, and hints of dried violets and rose petals, gaining complexity as it opens. The palate is fresh, refined, and beautifully balanced, with fine tannins and a silky, tailored texture. There is impressive depth without excess weight, and the finish is long, lifted, and nuanced. While already impressive, it should continue to evolve gracefully over the coming years and is best enjoyed from 2026 onward.

Production
The 2019 vintage is made from 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc sourced from Rocheyron’s 8 hectares of vines, with tank sizes adapted to the diversity of the estate’s soils. Fermentation took place in seven concrete tanks and three stainless-steel tanks, followed by 15 months of ageing in oak barrels, with only 35% new wood to preserve the fruit’s purity. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration, and the estate is in the process of converting to organic farming.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, game birds, or mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours before serving to soften the texture and bring out its more perfumed side.

Founded in 2009 on a historic Saint-Émilion site long associated with viticulture, the estate has quickly gained attention for its precise, terroir-driven style and its focus on finesse rather than heavy extraction. The 2019 vintage reflects the ambition behind the project and the growing reputation of the château in Bordeaux.
