Tasting Notes
Pale to medium gold in the glass, the 2009 Rieussec opens with inviting aromas of crème caramel, chopped nuts, baked apples, and spiced pear, lifted by delicate hints of jasmine, peach blossom, and beeswax. It is lavish and full-bodied on the palate, with a creamy, decadent texture that unfolds in layers while maintaining impressive brightness and precision. The finish is exceptionally long and refined, leaving a lasting impression of finesse and harmony. This is a wine with excellent ageing potential, and it should continue to develop even greater complexity over time.

Production
Crafted in Sauternes, Bordeaux, where morning mists and warm afternoons create the ideal conditions for noble rot, Château Rieussec benefits from a terroir perfectly suited to concentrated sweet wines. The grapes are typically harvested by hand in successive passes to select only the best botrytised berries, then gently vinified to preserve purity, richness, and aromatic detail.

Best served slightly chilled, around 8–10°C, this wine is a natural match for foie gras, blue cheese, fruit-based desserts, tarte Tatin, or baked pastries with almonds and honey. Decanting is usually not necessary, though allowing it to breathe briefly in the glass can help reveal its full aromatic depth.
