Château Rieussec Rieussec 2008

Château Rieussec is one of Sauternes’ benchmark sweet wines, celebrated for its richness, finesse and age-worthy structure. Tasting Notes
In the glass, Château Rieussec 2008 displays a luminous golden colour typical of a well-made Sauternes. The bouquet is floral and expressive, with peach, stone apricot and a touch of marmalade, gradually opening to hints of lemon cream as it breathes. On the palate, it is honeyed from the first impression, with impressive depth and a supple vanilla note layered with orange peel, marmalade and quince. The finish is long and graceful, with freshness keeping the sweetness in check. This vintage has the structure to age beautifully for many years, developing greater complexity with time in bottle.

Production
Château Rieussec is located in Sauternes, where morning mists and warm afternoons create ideal conditions for noble rot, allowing the grapes to concentrate naturally. The grapes are harvested by hand in several successive passes to select only the berries affected by Botrytis cinerea at the right moment of ripeness. Vinification is carefully managed to preserve aromatic precision and texture, resulting in a wine of richness, purity and balance.

Food & Serving
Serve slightly chilled, ideally around 8-10°C, to highlight both the sweetness and the freshness. Château Rieussec 2008 is excellent with foie gras, blue cheese, fruit-based desserts, tarte tatin or crème brûlée, and it also works beautifully with roasted peaches or apricot tart. Decanting is generally not necessary, though allowing the wine a little time in the glass can help the aromas fully unfold.
