Château Pontet-Canet 2019

Château Pontet-Canet 2019 is a standout Pauillac from one of Bordeaux’s most respected estates, combining power, precision, and remarkable purity. Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark ruby color that hints at its concentration and depth. The nose is layered and expressive, with blackcurrant, plum, and cherry lifted by notes of smoke, cedar, dried herbs, tobacco, vanilla, and dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and intensely structured, yet carried by a refined, almost silky texture. Fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity, and a mineral edge give it balance and length, while the finish lingers with dark fruit, spice, toasted oak, and cocoa. This is a wine with excellent aging potential and should develop beautifully over the coming decades.

Production
Produced in Pauillac, on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Château Pontet-Canet benefits from gravelly soils that are ideally suited to Cabernet Sauvignon and contribute to the wine’s structure, freshness, and depth. The estate is known for its biodynamic farming, which aims to preserve vineyard vitality and express terroir with greater clarity. Careful harvesting and meticulous vinification help retain purity of fruit, while barrel aging adds complexity and subtle notes of oak, spice, and chocolate.

Food & Serving
Best enjoyed with rich, savory dishes such as grilled steak, braised game, lamb, or mature cheeses like Comté and Manchego. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to help the wine open up and soften its tannins.
