Chateau Pegau Côtes du Rhône Village Cuvée Setier is a step above a standard Côtes du Rhône, bringing the character and pedigree of Domaine du Pégaü into a more accessible format. Made from fruit grown on terroirs very similar to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, it offers remarkable depth, freshness, and spice, making it a standout value from the Southern Rhône.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this is a deep, clear red with an inviting, youthful brightness. The nose opens with generous aromas of red berries, licorice, tar, pepper, and Mediterranean herbs, creating a classic Southern Rhône profile with plenty of detail. On the palate, the wine is intense and expressive, with ripe fruit at the core and a signature peppery edge that gives it real energy. It finishes long and persistent, leaving a savory impression that keeps pulling you back for another sip. This is a wine that is already drinking beautifully and has the structure to age gracefully for another 7–10 years.

Production
The blend is built around 60% Grenache, complemented by 20% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre, sourced from vineyards whose soils and exposure closely resemble those found in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Winemaker Laurence Féraud emphasizes handling the whole clusters carefully and, for Setier, ageing the wine in stainless steel to preserve the freshness and purity of the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine that works especially well with grilled lamb, roast chicken with herbs, ratatouille, duck, sausages, and other richly seasoned Mediterranean dishes. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and decanting is optional but recommended if you want to open up the spice and ароматic complexity.
