Description

Château Palmer 2019 is one of Margaux’s most celebrated wines, combining the depth and structure of a great Bordeaux with the polish and finesse that have made the estate legendary. Now fully biodynamically farmed, the château has taken its already formidable reputation to an even higher level, producing a wine with real presence, precision, and historic pedigree.

Tasting Notes
Deep, concentrated color in the glass, the 2019 vintage opens with an aromatic mix of sweet tobacco, stone, brambleberry, and currant, layered with the kind of earthy nuance and floral lift that mark great Bordeaux. It is a powerful yet agile wine, with polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and a compact, full-bodied core that carries remarkable length and structure. On the palate, the fruit is dense and refined rather than opulent, with a firm, muscular frame that promises excellent evolution in bottle. This is a wine built for the long haul and will benefit from at least six years of cellaring before revealing its full harmony, with the potential to age gracefully for decades.

Production
Château Palmer is located in Margaux in Bordeaux, where gravel-rich soils and a temperate maritime climate help Cabernet Sauvignon thrive. The estate’s vineyards are now cultivated according to biodynamic principles, reflecting a long-term commitment to biodiversity and natural balance, with the team employing careful vineyard management and increasingly hands-off, terroir-driven practices. The wine is vinified to preserve purity, structure, and aromatic complexity, resulting in a style that is both powerful and deeply expressive of its origin.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for refined, flavorful dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, venison, or slow-braised short ribs. It also pairs beautifully with truffle-based dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for several hours, especially in its youth, to help the wine open and soften its structure.

Producer
Château Palmer is one of the great names of Margaux, with a history dating back to 1814, when English general Charles Palmer acquired the estate. Since the 1960s, the château has been renowned for producing wines of exceptional consistency and quality, often standing shoulder to shoulder with the region’s most famous classified growths. Under Thomas Duroux, who joined as manager and winemaker in 2006, the estate has undergone a major biodynamic transformation, strengthening its position as one of Bordeaux’s most admired and forward-thinking producers.
