Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a medium garnet color with noticeable amber at the rim, reflecting its long evolution in bottle. The nose is wonderfully expressive, unfolding with sweet caramel, jammy kirsch, vanilla, spice box, Asian spice, and licorice, all layered over a fragrant, gently earthy complexity. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, plush, and generously textured, with sweet concentrated fruit, low acidity, and very ripe tannins that are now fully integrated. It is fully mature and at its peak of drinkability, with little reason to expect further improvement, though well-stored bottles should still provide immediate pleasure.

Produced in Pomerol, Bordeaux, Château Latour à Pomerol reflects the region’s gravelly and clay-rich terroirs, which are especially suited to Merlot-based wines with depth and velvety texture. The blend of Merlot with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon contributes structure and aromatic lift, while careful harvesting and traditional vinification would have been aimed at preserving ripeness, concentration, and balance in this outstanding vintage.

This wine is best served with refined, flavorful dishes such as roasted lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, truffled mushrooms, or game birds with rich sauces. Serve at around 16–18°C and decant gently if the bottle is sound, but for an older vintage like this, a short decant or even opening shortly before service is often the safest approach to preserve its delicate maturity.
