Tasting Notes
In the glass, Carruades de Lafite 2021 shows a classic Pauillac profile with a deep, polished colour and remarkable clarity. The bouquet opens with blackcurrant, ripe cherry, cedar, graphite, and a touch of tobacco, gradually revealing the subtle mineral edge that gives the wine its sense of lift and definition. On the palate, it is restrained yet beautifully layered, with fine, silky tannins, fresh acidity, and a composed line of dark fruit running through the finish. The wine feels harmonious rather than forceful, and while it can be enjoyed relatively young for its freshness and purity, it has the structure to develop gracefully over 10–20 years, gaining notes of leather, forest floor, and more complex cedar-toned nuances with age.

Production
The grapes for Carruades de Lafite are sourced from younger vines and carefully selected parcels across the estate in Pauillac, where gravelly soils help shape the wine’s signature finesse and precision. The 2021 vintage was vinified with the same attention to detail as the grand vin, preserving purity of fruit, balance, and structure, while the estate continues its transition toward increasingly sustainable and organic viticulture.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted beef, lamb, duck, game, and classic French sauces, as well as earthy mushroom dishes and firm, aged cheeses such as Comté or Gruyère. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for about 1 hour if drinking young to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.
