Tasting Notes
The 1999 Carruades de Lafite shows a deep, classic Bordeaux profile with graphite, cedar, lead pencil, and ripe blackcurrant notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and polished, with a supple, expansive texture and a sweet, glycerol richness that gives the wine both charm and depth. The finish is long, precise, and very much in the Lafite style, balancing finesse with structure. While it is already highly enjoyable, this is a wine with the framework to continue evolving gracefully in bottle for years to come, developing more tertiary complexity over time.

Production
Carruades de Lafite comes from vineyards in Pauillac, on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, where gravelly soils and the maritime climate help Cabernet-driven wines develop structure, freshness, and aromatic lift. The estate works with strict yield control, hand harvesting, and careful vineyard management, with a strong emphasis on manual work throughout the year. Vinification follows traditional methods designed to preserve purity and elegance, resulting in a wine that reflects both the Lafite style and the character of the vintage.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with fine red meats such as lamb, beef tenderloin, or duck breast, as well as game, truffle dishes, and mature hard cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C to bring out its aromatic detail and balance. Decanting is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, to allow the wine to open fully and reveal its layered complexity.
