Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby to garnet color with exceptional brightness and concentration. The nose is often beautifully layered, combining graphite, cassis, blackcurrant leaf, cedar, tobacco, and subtle floral nuances, with the kind of precision that only top Lafite shows in mature form. On the palate, it is elegant rather than forceful, with fine tannins, impressive structure, and a long, mineral finish. The 2000 vintage has the balance and backbone to develop for decades, gaining further complexity in bottle with notes of truffle, leather, dried herbs, and earth.

Production
Château Lafite Rothschild is based in Pauillac, in the heart of Bordeaux’s Left Bank, where gravelly soils and excellent drainage favor Cabernet Sauvignon-driven wines. The estate farms with a strong emphasis on low yields, meticulous handwork, and careful vineyard management, with fruit selected from mature vines for the Grand Vin. Vinification follows traditional, highly controlled methods designed to preserve purity, structure, and aromatic finesse.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, venison, or truffle-rich preparations. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for several hours if the bottle is being enjoyed now, especially if you want to open up the wine’s aromatics and soften its tannins.
