Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2001 vintage typically shows a deep garnet core with some softened brick at the rim, hinting at graceful maturity. The nose is layered and expressive, with notes of ripe plum, black cherry, truffle, violet, cedar, and earthy spice, gradually opening to more secondary nuances with air. On the palate, it is refined rather than forceful, combining silky tannins with concentrated red and dark berry fruit, savory minerality, and the characteristic Pomerol depth that gives the wine both charm and seriousness. The finish is long and poised, and while it has already developed beautifully, the wine can continue to hold and evolve for several more years in a good cellar.

Production
Château La Conseillante sits on the eastern edge of the Pomerol plateau, where clay-rich soils, known locally for their ability to store and release water, are complemented by parcels of gravelly and sandy terroir. The estate’s vineyards are largely unchanged since the 18th century and are harvested by hand, with strict selection in both vineyard and cellar to ensure only the best fruit enters the wine. Vinification focuses on precision and freshness, allowing the estate’s signature finesse, concentration, and aromatic complexity to come through clearly.
