Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine typically shows a luminous golden hue that hints at its depth and sweetness. The nose opens with layers of apricot, candied citrus, honey, saffron and delicate floral notes, often supported by subtle vanilla and toasted nuances from élevage. On the palate, Château d’Yquem is famous for its balance: silky, luscious sweetness wrapped around vibrant acidity that keeps the wine energetic rather than heavy. Expect concentrated flavors of peach, marmalade, pineapple and beeswax, with a long, refined finish. Production
Château d’Yquem is based in Sauternes, where the cool morning mists and warm afternoons create ideal conditions for noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), the hallmark of the appellation. The grapes are harvested by hand in multiple passes, with only the perfectly botrytized berries selected, then vinified with meticulous care to preserve purity, concentration and balance.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 8–10°C. It pairs beautifully with foie gras, blue cheeses, fruit tarts, crème brûlée and almond-based desserts, but it can also be striking with spicy Asian cuisine or roasted poultry with a touch of sweetness. Decanting is usually not necessary for a young bottle, though a brief aeration can help release the aromatics.
