Description

Château de Beaucastel’s 2018 Hommage à Jacques Perrin is a powerful, Mourvèdre-led Châteauneuf-du-Pape, made in tribute to the family member whose vision helped shape the estate. Its depth, firm structure and distinctive blend of ripe fruit and southern Rhône herbs set it apart as a wine built for long ageing.

Tasting Notes
The nose is rich and layered, with cherry, raspberry and strawberry lifted by garrigue notes of bay leaf, lavender and thyme. Deeper aromas of black olive, roasted meat, espresso, star anise and dark chocolate add savoury complexity. Full-bodied and intense, the palate is framed by firm, persistent tannins and carries through to a long finish. With around 60% Mourvèdre, it is a structured wine that will benefit from at least five years of cellaring and should continue to develop over the following decades.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C, allowing the wine to open before drinking. Decant for one to two hours when enjoying it young; mature bottles may need less time. Its savoury depth pairs well with slow-roasted lamb, grilled or braised beef, game and dishes featuring herbs, olives or mushrooms.

Château de Beaucastel is a renowned estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in France’s southern Rhône Valley. The Perrin family has long been associated with the property, and the Hommage à Jacques Perrin cuvée honours a member of the family whose influence helped define the estate’s approach. Beaucastel is especially recognised for its ambitious, age-worthy wines from the appellation.
