Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine shows a deep, inviting ruby-purple color. The nose opens with blackberry, black cherry, and dark berry fruit, layered with herbs, black pepper, and a subtle licorice note. The palate is juicy yet restrained, with a clean, focused structure and fine-grained tannins that give the wine shape without heaviness. There’s a moderate ripeness to the fruit, but the overall impression is fresh, elegant, and quietly powerful, finishing long with a spicy lift. It has the structure to age well over the medium term, gaining additional complexity with a few years in bottle.

Lytton Springs comes from Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County, where historic vineyards dating back to the 19th century are planted to old vines and traditional field blends. The 2023 vintage was hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented, then matured for 16 months in American oak, with only 19% new wood to preserve freshness and site character. Ridge’s minimal-intervention approach keeps the focus on fruit purity, structure, and terroir expression.

This is a natural match for barbecue, lamb, braised beef, and spicy vegetable dishes, and it also works beautifully with Mediterranean-inspired meals or rich pasta.
