Château Cos d'Estournel 2019

Château Cos d’Estournel 2019 is a distinguished Saint-Estèphe red from one of Bordeaux’s most iconic classified growths, ranked 2nd Grand Cru Classé in the historic 1855 Classification. Built primarily on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, it combines power, elegance, and remarkable depth in a style that has made Cos d’Estournel one of the benchmark estates of the Left Bank.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color that hints at its concentration and structure. The nose is intense and layered, with blackcurrant, dark cherry, spice, and tobacco, lifted by subtle smoky and mineral nuances. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and impressively compact, with a muscular frame balanced by finely integrated tannins that give a smooth, polished texture. It has excellent aging potential and is expected to open beautifully from around 2027 onward, developing even greater complexity and harmony with time.

Production
Produced in Saint-Estèphe in Bordeaux, the wine reflects the gravelly, well-drained soils and cooler maritime influence of the northern Médoc, which are particularly well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon. Harvesting is carried out with precision to preserve fruit purity and tannin quality, followed by traditional Bordeaux vinification aimed at extracting depth, structure, and longevity while maintaining balance and refinement.

Food & Serving
This is a classic match for richly flavored dishes such as ribeye, lamb, venison, braised beef, or duck with dark sauces. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for several hours when young to allow the wine’s aromas and structure to fully unfold.
