Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby core with elegant, youthful brightness. The bouquet opens with dark cherry, plum, and blackcurrant, layered with violet, cedar, and a subtle hint of truffle. On the palate, it is precise and lively, with fresh acidity, silky tannins, and a refined mineral line that brings definition and length. Rather than brute force, it offers poise and balance, with enough structure to develop beautifully over the next 10–15 years, and even up to 15–20 years from the vintage in a good cellar.

Production
Clos René is located in Pomerol, where gravel, clay, and sand soils help shape a wine of classical Right Bank elegance. The 2021 vintage benefited from a cooler Bordeaux growing season, favoring freshness and structure over ripeness-driven power. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak, with around 25% new barrels, adding subtle spice and texture without overpowering the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roast lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, mushroom dishes, and truffle-based recipes, as well as hard cheeses with depth and character. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for about 1 hour if drinking young to allow the aromatics and texture to open up fully.
