Château Cantenac Brown 2018 is a beautifully composed Bordeaux from one of the most distinctive estates in Margaux, instantly recognisable for its Tudor-style château and consistently refined style. Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine typically shows a deep ruby colour with excellent concentration. Aromatically, expect classic Bordeaux notes of cassis, ripe black cherry, cedar, graphite and subtle spice, supported by a refined floral lift from the Cabernet Franc. On the palate it is poised and layered, with ripe dark fruit, fine tannins and a fresh, mineral edge that gives the wine clarity and length. The 2018 vintage has the balance and density to age gracefully, and this wine should develop beautifully over the coming years. With time, the fruit will soften into more complex notes of leather, tobacco, truffle and earthy nuance, while retaining the polished structure that defines top Margaux.

Production
The estate spans 48 hectares in Bordeaux’s Margaux appellation, planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with vines averaging around 35 years of age. The vineyards are farmed sustainably with plant-based fertilisers, reflecting a careful approach to both the land and long-term quality. Under the guidance of winemaker José Sanfins, the winery has focused on precision in the cellar to express the elegance and character of the terroir.

Food & Serving
This is a classic partner for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds and dishes with earthy elements such as mushrooms or truffle. Serve at 16–18°C for the best expression, and decant for about 1–2 hours if drinking young, so the wine can open fully and reveal its aromatic complexity.

Producer
Château Cantenac Brown was founded in the early 1900s by the Scottish painter John Lewis Brown, who built the striking château in Tudor style. The property has changed hands several times over the years, including ownership by Rémy Martin and AXA, before being taken over by the Halabi family in 2006. Since then, significant investment and the appointment of José Sanfins have elevated the estate’s quality, reinforcing its strong standing in Margaux and Bordeaux more broadly.
