Champagne Jean Laurent Millésime Brut Rosé 2009 is a rare vintage rosé from the southern reaches of Champagne, crafted exclusively from Pinot Noir. From old vines in the chalky slopes of Celles-sur-Ource, it combines impressive intensity with a lifted, airy style that reflects both precision and generosity.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, intense rosé hue. The nose opens with ripe red berries, rose petals, and a subtle hint of spice, followed by evolved notes of dried fruit and tea from long aging on the lees. On the palate, it is concentrated and vinous, with a silky texture, layered fruit, fine mousse, and a long, elegant finish. Thanks to its structure and freshness, it has the potential to continue developing beautifully over time.
Production
Jean Laurent works organically in the Côtes des Bar, sourcing Pinot Noir from old vines rooted in limestone-rich soils around Celles-sur-Ource. The grapes are harvested at full maturity and given a short maceration to achieve the wine’s deep rosé color. After the first fermentation, the Champagne spends ten years aging on the lees, building complexity, creamy texture, and finesse before receiving a moderate dosage that preserves the purity of the fruit.
Food & Serving
This is a Champagne that works beautifully with food, especially dishes with depth and character such as duck, roast poultry, salmon, tuna, mushrooms, or refined charcuterie. Serve it well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and consider brief decanting only if you want to soften its more developed aromas and let the wine fully open in the glass.
Producer
Champagne Jean Laurent is a respected grower producer in Côtes des Bar, known for expressive, terroir-driven Champagnes with excellent value. The estate has built its reputation on old-vine Pinot Noir and careful organic farming, earning particular praise for its rosé wines, which consistently combine ripeness, structure, and elegance.
