Why shop with us?
A standout Blanc de Blancs from the highly regarded Champagne Jean Laurent, this 2008 Magnum captures one of the most celebrated Champagne vintages in recent memory. Made entirely from Chardonnay and released in limited quantity, it combines finesse, minerality, and impressive depth in a format that only enhances its aging potential.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a beautiful golden hue, hinting at its maturity and concentration. The nose is expressive and refined, with notes of orange blossom, yellow apple, dried white cherries, and toasted whole-grain bread.
On the palate, the wine opens with a vivid line of freshness before unfolding into layers of texture, precision, and complexity. The balance between citrus-driven energy, chalky minerality, and subtle autolytic richness is seamless, and the Magnum format suggests excellent evolution ahead. This is a Champagne built to impress now, but one that can continue to develop beautifully over time.
Production
Produced in the Champagne region of France from 100% Chardonnay, this Blanc de Blancs reflects the character of Jean Laurent’s top vintage cuvées. The 2008 growing season delivered exceptional conditions for structured, long-lived wines, and the Magnum format further supports graceful maturation. With only a small number of cases produced, it stands as a rare and highly sought-after expression of the house style.
Food & Serving
Ideal with oysters, scallops, lobster, sushi, or delicate poultry dishes, this Champagne also pairs wonderfully with aged hard cheeses and fine canapés. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and consider opening it a little in advance or giving it a brief decant if you’d like to allow the aromas to fully open, especially given its depth and vintage complexity.
Producer
Champagne Jean Laurent is known for crafting characterful, terroir-driven Champagnes with admirable purity and balance. The house has earned strong praise for its vintage releases, especially from the exceptional 2008 harvest, and is recognized among enthusiasts for producing wines with both finesse and aging capacity. Its limited-production cuvées have helped cement its reputation as one of the more exciting names in the region.
