Description
Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy from La Chablisienne is a refined expression of Chardonnay from one of Burgundy’s most respected white-wine appellations. The Beauroy Premier Cru vineyard is known for producing Chablis with a touch of extra breadth and richness, while still retaining the steely freshness and mineral precision the region is famous for.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this 2019 Chablis 1er Cru typically shows a pale, luminous gold with green reflections. The nose is elegant and layered, offering citrus peel, white flowers, green apple, and subtle hints of wet stone, with a quiet creaminess developing with air.
On the palate, it is fresh and linear, with taut acidity carrying flavours of lemon, pear, orchard fruit, and a distinctive chalky-mineral edge. Beauroy often brings a little more roundness than some other Premiers Crus, giving the wine balance and texture without losing its Chablis character. It has very good aging potential and should gain complexity over the next several years, developing more honeyed, nutty, and flinty notes.
Production
Chablis lies in northern Burgundy, where cool-climate conditions and Kimmeridgian limestone soils give Chardonnay its signature tension and mineral drive. The Beauroy Premier Cru vineyard benefits from this distinctive terroir, and La Chablisienne works with carefully selected fruit, usually harvested at optimal ripeness to preserve freshness and precision. Vinification typically focuses on maintaining the purity of the grape and the character of the site, with controlled fermentation and élevage designed to highlight the wine’s balance between fruit, structure, and minerality.
Food & Serving
This wine is a natural match for oysters, shellfish, grilled white fish, sushi, roast chicken, and creamy goat’s cheese. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C to bring out its freshness and detail. Decanting is not usually necessary, though a brief opening in the glass can help the wine reveal its aromatic complexity.
Producer
La Chablisienne is one of the most important cooperative wineries in Chablis, founded in 1923 and widely respected for the quality and consistency of its wines. Over the decades, it has played a major role in defining the reputation of Chablis both in France and internationally. Today, it is recognized for producing expressive, terroir-driven wines across the appellation, with a strong emphasis on precision and authenticity.
