Why shop with us?
Certan de May is a refined Pomerol from one of Bordeaux’s most admired right-bank appellations, offering the kind of plush texture and layered complexity collectors look for. Crafted in a region long celebrated for Merlot-driven wines of depth and finesse, the 2023 vintage continues that tradition with elegance and precision.
Tasting Notes
Expect a deep ruby color with a polished, inviting sheen. The nose typically leans toward ripe dark plum, black cherry, violets, cedar, and subtle earthy and truffle-like notes, with the 2023 vintage likely adding freshness and lift. On the palate, it should feel supple and concentrated, balancing generous fruit with fine tannins, mineral nuance, and a long, graceful finish.
As with many top Pomerols, this wine is built for patience. While approachable with aeration in its youth, it should develop greater complexity over time, rewarding cellaring with even more savory depth, silkier tannins, and secondary aromas of spice, tobacco, and forest floor.
Production
Produced in Pomerol on Bordeaux’s right bank, the wine benefits from the appellation’s gravelly and clay-rich soils, which are especially well suited to Merlot and lend both richness and structure. The 2023 vintage would have been harvested carefully to preserve freshness and balance, then vinified with an emphasis on extracting color, aroma, and tannin quality while maintaining finesse.
Food & Serving
Ideal with classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, or mushroom risotto, as well as aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if opening young, allowing the aromatics and texture to खुलfully unfold.
Producer
Certan de May is a respected Pomerol estate with a long-standing reputation for producing wines of elegance and authenticity. Situated in one of Bordeaux’s most sought-after communes, it is known among Bordeaux enthusiasts for crafting wines that combine richness, structure, and age-worthy balance.
