Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in the glass, the 2008 vintage shows the classic depth and seriousness expected from Saint-Estèphe. The nose is refined and layered, with aromas of blackcurrant, plum, cedar, tobacco, graphite, and subtle spice, gradually opening to hints of earth and dried herbs. On the palate, it is firm, balanced, and composed, with ripe dark fruit framed by fine tannins and fresh acidity. The finish is long and savory, with excellent structure that suggests strong aging potential; while already approachable with decanting, it should continue to develop beautifully over the coming years.

Production
Produced in Saint-Estèphe on the gravelly, clay-limestone soils that define this northern Médoc appellation, Calon Ségur benefits from a terroir that naturally supports structure, freshness, and concentration. The grapes are typically harvested parcel by parcel to preserve precision and ripeness, then vinified with careful extraction before aging in French oak to integrate tannin and enhance complexity.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game, and other richly flavored dishes, as well as mature cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for one to two hours if opening now to allow the wine to fully express its aromatic depth and soften its tannins.
