Why shop with us?
Bruno Giacosa is best known for his world-class Piedmont reds, but this Metodo Tradizionale Extra Brut shows another side of the estate: precise, elegant sparkling wine with serious pedigree. Made from Pinot Noir and crafted in the Blanc de Noirs style, it reflects Giacosa’s ability to bring finesse and balance to every corner of the Langhe and beyond.
Tasting Notes
Expect a pale, refined mousse with a clean, bright appearance and fine bubbles. The nose is fresh and expressive, with notes of white flowers, crisp orchard fruit, citrus peel, and subtle brioche from traditional-method aging.
On the palate, it is dry and focused, with lively acidity, energetic minerality, and a supple, linear texture. The Extra Brut style keeps the wine taut and precise, making it especially appetizing; while ready to enjoy now, it should also hold nicely over the next few years, developing a little more depth and complexity.
Production
Produced using the traditional method from Pinot Noir sourced in the Oltrepò Pavese area, this sparkling wine reflects cooler-climate terroir and careful grape selection. The fruit is harvested with attention to ripeness and freshness, then vinified separately before secondary fermentation in bottle, where the wine gains its fine mousse and Extra Brut character.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent aperitif, but it also works beautifully at the table with lunch dishes such as seafood starters, light pasta, risotto, fried vegetables, sushi, or delicate white meats. Serve well chilled at 6–8°C, and decanting is not recommended; simply open and pour to preserve the freshness and mousse.
Producer
Bruno Giacosa is one of Piedmont’s most respected names, famous for producing benchmark wines from the Langhe, especially Nebbiolo-based classics. The estate is admired for its consistency, purity, and deep connection to the region, and these sparkling wines further underline its range and craftsmanship. Their quality has helped reinforce Giacosa’s reputation as a producer capable of excellence well beyond a single grape or style.
