Description

Bruno Clavelier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Noirots 2023 is a poised, finely etched red Burgundy that captures the silken charm and floral finesse of Chambolle at premier cru level. Sourced from one of the appellation’s most admired climats, this wine balances delicacy and depth, offering both early‐drinking appeal and serious cellar potential. It’s a classic expression of old-vine Pinot Noir crafted by a domaine renowned for purity, precision and terroir transparency.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2023 Les Noirots shows a luminous, medium ruby color with youthful violet highlights at the rim. The nose is immediately expressive and elegant, opening with wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry, followed by rose petals, violets and a subtle chalky mineral note. With air, more complexity emerges: hints of forest floor, black tea, sweet spice and a touch of stone-dust typical of Chambolle’s finest sites. On the palate, the wine is refined and silken, with a mouthcoating yet weightless texture. Pure red berry fruit—raspberry, fraise des bois and red currant—is supported by fine-grained tannins and a vibrant, mouthwatering acidity. The mid-palate is layered and detailed, with delicate notes of crushed herbs, spice and limestone minerality that carry into a long, elegant finish. While accessible in its youth thanks to the vintage’s ripeness and the cuvée’s natural finesse, this 1er Cru has the structure to evolve beautifully over 10–15 years, gaining in aromatic complexity and texture with proper cellaring.

Production
Les Noirots is a premier cru parcel in Chambolle-Musigny, sitting on well-drained limestone and clay-limestone soils that give the wine its hallmark perfume and finesse. Domaine Bruno Clavelier farms the vines organically and biodynamically, working with low yields and older plantings of Pinot Noir to achieve natural concentration and balance. Grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, with meticulous sorting in the vineyard and at the cellar door. Vinification typically involves a proportion of whole clusters, native yeast fermentation and gentle extraction to preserve fruit purity and the delicate tannin profile. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels—usually with a restrained use of new oak—to enhance complexity without overshadowing the clarity of the terroir, before being bottled with minimal intervention.

Food & Serving
This Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru pairs beautifully with refined, subtly flavored dishes that echo its elegance: roast pigeon or duck breast, veal tenderloin, guinea fowl, or herb-roasted chicken are classic matches. It also shines alongside mushroom dishes, truffle risotto, creamy poultry sauces, or mildly gamey preparations such as rabbit or quail. Serve at 15–16°C (59–61°F) to highlight its aromatics and finesse. Young bottles will benefit from 30–60 minutes in a decanter to allow the bouquet to unfurl; more mature bottles should be handled gently and, if decanted, done so just before serving to preserve their delicate, evolved aromas.
