Description
Brane-Cantenac 2010 is a distinguished Margaux from one of Bordeaux’s most respected classified growth estates, offering the refinement, structure, and perfume that make the appellation so sought after. As a 2ème Grand Cru Classé, it combines Cabernet Sauvignon-led precision with Merlot richness and Cabernet Franc lift, making it a compelling choice for collectors and Bordeaux lovers alike.
Tasting Notes
Deep garnet in the glass, this vintage typically shows the classical elegance of Margaux with a layered aromatic profile. Expect blackcurrant, blackberry, violet, cedar, graphite, and subtle spice on the nose, with the wine opening further in the glass to reveal hints of tobacco, leather, and fine toasted oak.
On the palate, Brane-Cantenac 2010 is structured yet polished, with ripe dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a long, measured finish. The vintage has the concentration and balance for excellent aging, and while it is already showing complexity, it should continue to develop gracefully over many more years.
Production
Sourced from the gravelly soils of Margaux, the estate benefits from excellent drainage and a terroir particularly well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, while Merlot and Cabernet Franc add depth and aromatic complexity. The grapes are typically harvested parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness, with careful selection to preserve precision and quality.
Vinification is carried out with a focus on extracting finesse rather than heaviness, followed by maturation in French oak barrels to integrate structure and enhance complexity. The result is a wine that reflects both the character of the vintage and the elegance of its Margaux origins.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, or mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 1–2 hours if enjoying now, especially to allow the aromas and tannins to fully open.
