Tasting Notes
In the glass, Ilatraia "20 Anni" 2021 shows a deep, saturated ruby color with violet highlights along the rim, hinting at both youth and concentration. The nose is layered and expressive, opening with dark berries and blackcurrants, followed by notes of plum, violet, graphite and cedar, with subtle accents of cocoa, tobacco leaf and sweet spices from its time in French barriques. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet remarkably velvety, with beautifully integrated tannins that are typical of the Tuscan coast. Ripe black fruit, cassis and wild berries are wrapped in a firm, elegant structure, supported by a vibrant acidity that gives lift and length. Brancaia Ilatraia "20 Anni" 2021 comes from the Maremma area on the Tuscan coast, where warm, sun-filled days, cooling sea breezes and well-drained soils help Cabernet-based varieties reach perfect ripeness while retaining freshness. The grapes—40% Petit Verdot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc—are harvested selectively at optimal maturity to preserve both intensity and aromatic precision. In the cellar, each variety is vinified separately to highlight its character, with careful temperature control and gentle extraction to obtain fine tannins and pure fruit expression. The wine then matures for 18 months in French barriques, 50% of which are new, before resting for at least one year in bottle, allowing its components to harmonize and the texture to become exceptionally silky.

This structured yet refined Tuscan red pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted red meats, such as bistecca alla fiorentina, lamb chops or beef tenderloin, as well as hearty dishes like braised short ribs, game, or wild mushroom risotto.
