Description
Bollinger La Grande Année Brut Champagne 2015 is a prestige cuvée made only in exceptional vintages, crafted for those who value depth, precision, and longevity in Champagne. Built on a generous core of Pinot Noir and balanced by elegant Chardonnay, it reflects Bollinger’s long-standing reputation for serious, age-worthy Champagne with remarkable character.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a fine, persistent mousse and a bright, polished golden hue. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas that unfold from ripe orchard fruit and citrus to toasted bread, nuts, and subtle spice from its time in oak.
On the palate, the wine is powerful yet poised, with impressive structure, concentrated fruit, and a creamy texture framed by freshness and mineral drive. The Pinot Noir gives breadth, volume, and intensity, while the Chardonnay brings lift and finesse. This is a Champagne with excellent aging potential, capable of developing further complexity over many years in bottle.
Production
La Grande Année 2015 comes exclusively from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards, with Pinot Noir mainly sourced from Aÿ and Verzenay in the Montagne de Reims, and Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oiry in the Côte des Blancs. The grapes are harvested by hand, and the wine undergoes its first fermentation in small oak barrels, averaging around 20 years of age, before extended bottle aging under cork. Every stage is carried out with meticulous manual work, reflecting Bollinger’s precision-driven approach and traditional winemaking philosophy.
Food & Serving
This Champagne pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, roast poultry, truffle risotto, or dishes featuring mushrooms and rich cream sauces. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C. Decanting is generally not necessary, but allowing the wine a few minutes in the glass can help it open up and reveal its full aromatic complexity.
